חברת ThivanLabs יכלה לישון בשקט ובשלווה על זרי הדפנה של ה-TMS-9 המפואר. ה-TMS-9 הועמד למבחן ישיר מול כמה מקדם-המגברים הטובים יותר בעולם, ועקף אותם בקלילות. אבל אז העמידו מולו קדם-מגבר מסוים (שפופרתי ובמחיר 75,000 דולר – לא הקדם הכי יקר שהעמידו מולו…), והתחרות הייתה כבר יותר קשה. כל חברה אחרת הייתה מאושרת מהתוצאות האלה. לא המהנדסים ב-ThivanLabs – זה איתגר אותם והפיח בהם את רוח התחרות. הם חזרו למעבדה וללוח השרטוט.

שפופרות 300B מסוימות עלולות לייצר מין צליל "טינג" מתכתי בזמן החלפת ערוץ או שינוי ווליום בפוטנציומטר נגדים. כדי למנוע את התופעה הזאת, ThivanLabs פיתחה בית-שפופרת צף – מנגנון קרדני, כמו במצפן, המונע מהרעידות להגיע אל השפופרות. המנגנון הזה גם מגן על השפופרות מפני רעידות אחרות מהמכשיר, כגון, מהשנאים, כמו גם מפני רעידות מחוץ למכשיר, מה שתורם בתורו להנחתת רצפת הרעש הכללית. מבריק!

בנימה אישית
כל מי שמנוסה בקדם-מגברים ברמה גבוהה, יודע שהם אינם רק החלק החשוב ביותר בהגברה, הם גם מרכז העצבים של כל המערכת.
לכן יש לא מעט אודיופילים שבונים את המערכת שלהם מסביב לקדם-המגבר.
שמענו לא מעט קדם-מגברים ברמות על, או לפחות, יקרים מאוד (שני דברים לאו דווקא משיקים), אבל ה-ULTIMATE 300 הוא משהו שלא חווינו מעולם עם שום קדם-מגבר. אם היה נדמה שאנחנו מבינים את החשיבות הקריטית של הרכיב הזה, בא ה-ULTIMATE 300 ומבהיר שגם אחרי עשרות שנים בתחום יש לנו עוד הרבה מה ללמוד.
אז במה להתחיל?
דווקא באותה תופעה שלא קל להסביר או להבין אותה בלי להיווכח בה בעצמכם: כוונו את כפתור הווליום בקדם-מגבר הנוכחי שלכם לנקודה X, כלומר, לכל נקודה שתבחרו. עכשיו, שימו מוזיקה, ותתחילו להקשיב בתשומת-לב למעברים הדינמיים בין PP ל-FF או אפילו בין P ל-F. לא ייקח לכם הרבה זמן לגלות שהמעברים הדינמיים האלה מסתובבים – במעגלים קרובים מדי – לאותה נקודה X בכפתור הווליום. עשו את אותו הדבר עם ה-ULTIMATE 300, ותגלו שהוא מגיב למעברים הדינמיים בדיוק כמו בחיים: PP, ואפילו PPP חרישי להפליא, עובר באבחה ל-FF, ואפילו ל-FFF מרעיד קירות, וכל זה בלי לגעת ולו פעם אחת בכפתור הווליום… ברגע ששומעים את זה, קשה לחזור לחד-ממדיות הדינמית, או לפחות לכיווץ הדינמי, המאפיין כמעט את כל קדם-המגברים האחרים.
ה-ULTIMATE 300 הוא מכונת רזולוציה! לא ייאמן כמה פרטים חדשים, או כאלה שהיה להם רק רמז, צצים פתאום בבירור, ומקפיצים את המאזין שבטוח שמישהו נכנס לו הביתה ומסתובב שם באזור הרמקולים… ולא מדובר רק בפרטים קונקרטיים כמו תזוזת כיסא או נגיעה אקראית במיקרופון, אלא יותר מזה – בפרטים טונליים, צבעים, נימי צבעים. אין ספק שזה נובע, בין השאר, בזכות ספק הכח האדיר של המכשיר, האחראי גם לרצפת הרעש הכמעט אפסית. לא תמצאו כאן "רקע שחור משחור" סטרילי ומנוכר, אלא רקע שחור משחור רוטט ומלא חיים של התרחשות מוזיקלית אמיתית. מה שבתורו מוליד את הבמה העצומה ביותר ששמענו אי-פעם במערכת סטריאו!
מכל מקום, הפרטים האלה אינם עצים בלבד – מה שנהוג לכנות "צליל אנליטי" – אלא הם מתחברים, בדיוק כמו בחיים, ליער שלם ואורגני, ובעיקר סוחף ומושך. כל זה היה יכול להיות נחמד רק לכמה דקות, אם לא הייתה שם נשמה. ולטעמנו, במוזיקה, נשמה = טונליות נכונה, כלומר, אותנטית. הססגוניות הטונלית, המגוונת, המסקרנת, המפתה, של ה-ULTIMATE 300 היא זנב-טווס אמיתי, ואין ספק ששפופרות ה-300B תורמות לכך במידה רבה.

The pinnacle of technical design
One of the most unique points in the design solution of Ultimate 300 to achieve the highest musicality is the use of 300B tubes for the main amplifier stage, designed according to the single-ended Class A – Zero Feedback circuit, specifically optimized for 300B tubes combined with output transformer technology developed by ThivanLabs and produced in-house.i
300B has a very beautiful sound characteristics, and the design of the Ultimate 300 and used output transformers are optimized for 300B tubes to exploit all the beauty of the sound. This solution brings delicate, smoothness and authenticity for the sound. The sound is reproduced “super dynamic and detailed”, “natural and emotional”. In addition, the soundstage is unlimitedly extended. By exploiting the sound advantages of the 300B Single Ended design and Transformer output, the smallest detailed sound is also expressed very clearly and delicately. Therefore, the 300B tubes on the Ultimate 300 are equipped with a special suspension system to reduce the influence of vibrations from the surrounding environment almost absolutely.i
The power supply module of ULTIMATE 300 is also one of the unique components of the device. The outstanding advantage of the power supply module of the ULTIMATE 300 is the use of many Chokes to purify the power source for the amplifier circuit. These chokes are also specially designed and manufactured, tested extremely rigorously to achieve the best noise filtering ability for the power section. The use of many specialized Chokes for the ULTIMATE 300 really brings an extremely fast, powerful source of energy, while completely preserving the details and musicality, thanks to which the dynamics are extremely high and fast. Line Preamp
300B uses Transformer output, designed with very low output impedance, so the ability to supply large and fast current, thanks to which the sound can easily achieve very high dynamics.i
– The entire signal circuit is designed with the shortest transmission path and Point-to-point connection, helping to preserve the optimal signal. Therefore, the smallest details of the sound to be amplified in a subtle and extremely detailed way.i
A separate Power Supply
The power supply is separated into a separate module from the amplifier module to completely eliminate noise in the most optimal way.i
The Power Supply module is specially designed and tested, using a lot of choke coils (L) and Oil capacitors (PIO) to bring a clean, endlessly deep sound background.i
The connection cable is specially tested to optimize extremely durable and stable transmission between the two modules – the main amplifier module and the power supply module.i
True Balanced XLR Output
The Ultimate 300 is also a Preamp with a True Balanced output for optimal noise reduction.i
